Henry Kissinger was wrong

“Too bad both sides can’t lose,” is attributed to Henry Kissinger. He was wrong, of course — no matter who gets to re-write history as the victor, the fact is that both sides lose wars. All wars.

I’m reminded of this in the aftermath of the Iraq invasion and the continuing disaster of Afghanistan. The US government, no different from all governments, is good — excellent, in fact! — at destruction and nothing else.
