I hear the white house is closed to public tours, to emphasize to the vacationing public the horrors of sequestration. Herewith, a suggestion:
I’m in Orlando at the moment, where the price for a day at Disney world is $89 ($83 if you’re under 10), and there are any number of add-on options that increase the price. Why should a tour of the white house be less expensive than a day at Disney world? Maybe add on a tour of the oval office for an extra $70?
Of course, even though Disney provides a lot for the money, there’s no guarantee that the government could break even at $89 per head.
After all, government is in fact very expensive, and appropriate admissions fees would help make the point. Or could it be that the philosopher kings would prefer that no one notice?
